Canadian Pharmacist goes from working seven days a week to one to two days a week

Before Vincent and Mable Chan started their USANA business, they rarely had time to spend together as a family. As the owner and pharmacist of a busy Vancouver drugstore, Vincent would often work 14-hour days, seven days a week. It was unusual for him to even make it home for dinner. "Between work and the family, it was really hard on us," Mable says. "We always talked about work, work, work."How is your time?

When the Chans were introduced to USANA, they were pleased by the high quality of USANA's products and the results they saw in their own health. But Vincent was just as excited about the prospect of building a business that could create more time and financial freedom. "I decided that I should squeeze in five hours a week to try to build my USANA business," Vincent explains. "It turned out to be workable. So, I started to put a little bit more time into USANA by hiring more pharmacists to work for me. Now I'm working one or two days a week at the pharmacy, and I have dinner every night with my family, which I treasure a lot."See the USANA Difference

The Chans don't just spend dinner together. Now they have the time and financial resources to travel as a family, as well. They recently took the longest holiday of their lives when they spent a month touring Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, and Thailand. The Chans and their three children - Adrian, Brian, and Kimberly - spent the time sightseeing, snorkeling, shopping, and building their USANA business. "We had a wonderful time," Vincent says. "We went to a small island in Thailand full of white, powdery sand and surrounded by turquoise water full of fish. It was truly paradise." Mable adds, "The family gets a lot closer with these trips once or twice a year. We get to really talk to our children and get to know them a little bit more."

At home in Vancouver, Vincent and Mable play tennis together or go to Chinese tea many afternoons, and the entire family often plays badminton or basketball. They also recently bought a luxurious, 6,500-square-foot home with six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. "It's a palace!" Vincent says. "I never imagined I could own a home like this before I retired."

The Chans also feel that they have gained many valuable personal skills from build-ing their USANA business. Every day they improve on their training and presentation abilities. "I'm actually quite shy," Mable explains. "I don't like to be in front of a lot of people, but I tend to be more open with our USANA business. You have to interact with people to know what they want." Vincent agrees, "When I look back at the last six years, one of the most important things I gained from going into this business was personal growth. Relationships are the things that carry a group to the next level."

Vincent and Mable are amazed at the way their lives have changed personally and financially these past few years. Vincent explains, "Many times I wake up and wonder, 'Is this really mine?' Author and Entrepreneur Robert G. Allen Creates an Extra Stream of Income with USANA

When Robert Allen talks about USANA and the additional stream of income it provides to people, you can hear in his voice just how important this concept is to him. For years, Robert has been preaching the importance of generating more than one income, so when USANA fell into his lap - by way of his wife Daryl - he knew this was something he had to begin telling people about.

Although Robert admits that plenty of people think he's nuts to be involved in network marketing, he and Daryl have experienced too much to ever deny the fact that this business really does work.

"USANA gave me the freedom to go back and do what I love to do - write," Robert says. Before USANA, this entrepreneur never had time to spend writing because he was always too busy building different businesses. One of those luxuries is traveling. The Allen's have vacationed in Europe, taken fishing trips to Alaska and Cabo San Lucas, floated around the islands of Tahiti, and more recently spent two weeks in the Mediterranean. Robert and Daryl also frequently visit their children. Their daughter Aimée sings in a band in Hollywood, while their son Aaron performs with a comedy troupe at Brigham Young University in Utah. Their youngest son Hunter is serving a two-year mission for his church in Brazil.

But the true power of residual income hit the Allens in a devastating way in March 2003, when Robert was involved in a severe car accident. For six intense days, he lay in a hospital bed with multiple injuries. Miraculously, he says, because of the prayers of hundreds in his USANA family, his own will to survive, and by the grace of God, he survived.

Looking back he thinks, "If I would have passed away on that day, what would have happened to my family?" The answer? "My family would continue to benefit from USANA," he says. "Where else could that happen?"

Robert is indeed grateful that his wife jumped at the chance to become a part of USANA nearly 10 years ago. They're the first to admit that it took a lot of hard work to get to where they are today, but add that every bit of it has been worth it. Robert and Daryl know without a doubt that because of USANA, their family will always have financial security.

Single Mom Avoids Bankruptcy

Single mom avoids bankruptcy and becomes one of the most successful women in the industry

Collette Larsen plans to take each of her grandchildren on a personal adventure of their choosing-whether it's an African safari or Paris in the spring. "I'd much rather create memories than buy things," she says. "We are a family that does rather than has."

Ten years ago, Collette could not have imagined being able to do something so extravagant for her family. When she started her USANA business in 1994, the single mother of five faced a mountain of medical bills and needed to work at home to care for her children.
USANA Opportunity

Collette initially became interested in USANA not as a businesswoman, but as a mother. Her two youngest daughters, Lexi and Sharlie, were critically ill with the degenerative disease Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Lexi had recently undergone a double lung transplant and, because of complications, was in a medically induced coma. Doctors had discussed putting Sharlie on the transplant list as well. With her attention on her daughters, Collette needed to look at extra income solutions. "That is the day I decided to do USANA as a business," she recalls.

Today, Collette leads Larsen Global Alliance which has expanded to include much of Collette's family. In 2001, Collette, Sharlie, and her sons, Zachary and Dax, formed an internal family team to help build the organization. "I'm truly happier than I've ever been in my entire life," Collette says. "I've got brothers, sisters, and children who are my best friends and partners." Collette has also been building a solid international business in Korea. "I've spent a lot of time in Korea the past year, and it's a very positive and exciting experience for me, and I've met many new friends. I think I'm the first person in Korea to teach them the concept of in-home meetings," she laughs.

Business and family are not Collette's only motivations. Her seemingly limitless energy is spent on a myriad of interests. She swims, takes classes in gourmet cooking and flower arranging, spends time at the beach, and reads avidly, with every other book being "mind expanding."
But fundraising as a member of the board of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the interest closest to Collette's heart. After losing her daughter Lexi to CF in 1995, Collette remains hopeful that more advanced treatment options will be dis-covered, and that someday CF will stand for "cure found." "We're determined to help find a cure for Sharlie and now for little Ben [Collette's grandson]," she says.

In the meantime, Collette intends to continue searching for inspiration in her life and creating priceless memories with her family. She has two more grandchildren on the way, and has also taken time to have a personal relationship. "I've been dating a wonderful man for the past year, and it's been a long time since I've taken the time to do that," she claims. Her dreams have come true through USANA, and Collette attributes her success to setting high goals for herself. "A dream that's too big is just the right size."
